This is an excellent book for those interested in doing research on american loyalists who served in any of the loyalist regiments. It consists of copies of the loyalist muster rolls, which musters were taken approximately every two months. It will sometimes also provide a little bit of biographical material on individual loyalists, such as where they came from, where they went when they left the regiment, whether they were absent due to being a prisoner, having been killed in action or out wounded.

This is a very complete and useful reference work for anyone who deals with measurements. I have been able to find almost every term I have looked for in this book. Every measurement professional should be able to find a place on their working bookshelf for it. However, there is one glaring omission: the word "metrology" (the science of measurement) is NOT one of the entries in the book!

While surely not inexpensive for a paperback book, this is an important study---perhaps the best single volume relating the history of magnetic sound, video, and data recording methods over a century. Written by a number of Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) authorities, the 20 chapters provide clearly-written and well-illustrated (nearly 100 photos and a host of diagrams) accounts of the rise of various modes of recording. One need not be an engineer (I'm not!) to understand the discussions here.

Of special value is the pulling together of material on all of these methods in one place, allowing ready comparison of who did what and when. We learn about inventors, marketing, hardware, and the means of recording, allowing a clearer understanding of how later developments built upon earlier ones. Some of the principles of modern videocams, for example, have been known for decades.

Each chapter includes references to contemporary studies and more recent research, allowing the reader to pursue topics at greater length. In all, this is a valuable anthology of original research that sheds considerable light on a fascinating story.

This tale of the creation of the Oscar-winning film is almost as funny as the movie itself. As anyone who's seen Priscilla can tell, making it truly was a labour of love, and what these folks went through to see it come to life makes for one fantastic read, which I won't spoil with all the details. This comes with my highest recommendation!

It was great! It had the perfecct balance of the two most important things: mystery, and suspence. You may like this book, or you may LOVE it, I happen to be one that loves it, it was cunning, and abouve all, smartly written. I just completed reading THE MAN WHO TALKS WITH THE FLOWERS by Glenn Clark and awesome describes my feelings as the author gave insight into the man known for his discoveries of multiple uses of the peanut and sweet potatoe, AND, what I did not know, was also known as a "liberated slave who saved the South from another type of slavery".

If you enjoy searching to find what kind of life experiences were involved with those who changed the course of familes, cities, nations, or who have inspired your life - then you will not be dissappointed in reading this small but powerful account of one man's encounter with Dr. George Washington Carver.

In this book, you will get a glimpse of him through the eyes of someone who knew him personally, not only as a chemist, but as a man who knew his Creator. You will discover why Dr. Carver had such a fascination with flowers and what part this played in the development of his study and research. You will learn how he received his name, get a glimpse of his beginning years as a child born to slavery, how he was educated, and what passion always kept him striving to discover more. You will learn why he was referred to as "the man no one sees without a flower in his buttonhole and the love of God in his heart".

I hope that others will enjoy this reading as much as I have.

How can a story break your heart and make it soar at the samtime? Think this is impossible? Not when it comes to the outstanding novel "A Man's War" by Denise Clark.

This is a wonderful book written on a difficult subject. The author is clearly in favour of an objective quantitative tool that can be used for assessing the risk for any country.

The technique advocated by Clark and Marois is based on a real option pricing model borrowing quantitative well-known techniques from the derivatives field. Their approach is shown in the book to be superior to other methods used in the real world by some respectable institutions and you are left wondering why not everybody is applying the new approach revealed in this book.

The book is far superior and more advanced than other more known titles in the field and it can be used by practitioners in the banks and financial institutions dealing with political risk and country rating, governmental specialists interested in identifying more rigorous tools for evaluating the national position vis-a-vis the rest of the world and by postgraduate and MBA students that can learn how to apply the real option technique and develop it further.

In conclusion it is a unique book in this area and I strongly recommended to those interested in risk management.
